Who Died on the 4th of July? Eerie Coincidences

A bit of history trivia for you on this great American holiday.  I am posting this because I think these occurrences are very eerie and almost beyond coincidental.

Do you know what Presidents of the United States died on the 4th of July?  There are three who passed away on this date.  All three were President in the early years of our country and were either signers of the Declaration of Independence or fought in the Revolutionary War.  These three were a big part of WHY we even have July 4th to celebrate.  I find it most ironic that these deaths occurred on our Nation's birthday.  So -  which ones you ask?

James Monroe
April 28, 1758 - July 4, 1831
5th President
Fought in the Revolutionary War

John Adams
Oct. 30, 1735 - July 4, 1826
2nd President
Signer of the Declaration of Independence

 Thomas Jefferson
April 13, 1743 - July 4, 1826
3rd President
Author and Signer of the Declaration of Independence

Did you notice?  John Adams and Thomas Jefferson died on the same exact day, within hours of each other.  They both lived in Virginia, relatively close to each other and had remained close friends.  John Adams last words were supposedly "At least Jefferson still lives".  Unknown to him that was not the case.  Jefferson had died a few hours before Adams. It gives me the chills that they both died of old age, within hours of each other, on the 50th Anniversity of the founding of our country.

Okay history lesson is over, go outside and enjoy the holiday weekend!
