Cool Black Snake on Allegheny Passage

We went for a long bike ride awhile back on the Allegheny Passage Trail in Elizabeth, PA.  We have recently started biking various trails and I have found it quite enjoyable, plus it's great way to get some exercise.  We stopped to take a break and I spied the coolest snake in a tree.

Hubby said it is a rat snake.  As you can see it is quite long.  Even cooler was the old snake skin hanging beside it.  He didn't seem to mind us, just watched us as we were watching him.  We saw lots of other wildlife including a deer, rabbits and groundhogs.  (I wasn't fast enough to photograph any of those however!).  I have learned biking on the trails is a great way to view wildlife.
